Our electricity enables productivity gains along the entire food chain. Of particular note are refrigerators, like our CoolUP^®, or even cold storage, like our self-sufficient Cooltainer^®, which prevent food from spoiling. In sub-Saharan Africa, about 40 % of the annual vegetable and fruit harvest spoils without appropriate cooling systems. The situation is similar for fish, meat and dairy products. Cold chains not only enable food to be preserved to supply the population, but also provide opportunities for farmers to increase yields.

By substituting diesel generators, we measurably reduce air pollution from particulate matter and nitrogen oxides - inside and outside our customers' homes. This reduces the risk of diseases such as stroke, heart attack, lung cancer, and chronic and acute respiratory diseases, including asthma and various allergies. Improving nutrition (SDG 2) and drinking water availability (SDG 6) further contributes to increasing physiological health. In addition, hospital wards are supplied with electricity, which allows the use of modern equipment and refrigeration of medicines. We also observe and measure how creating new opportunities through electricity - especially through entrepreneurship (SDG 8) - promotes the individual experience of freedom, self-determination, independence and a sense of happiness, thus strengthening mental health.

Our electricity powers schools and improves learning conditions. Light - in the home and on the street - enables children to learn in the evening hours. In addition, there are numerous effects where enormous time savings for the whole family can be observed due to productivity gains in the family business (e.g. collecting wood or running errands). This time, in turn, can be used for learning. Education - not only of children, but also of small business owners and women - promotes numerous other SDGs and is therefore part of our ImpactSite, along with the technical hardware. In addition, electricity enables access to global information via the Internet, radio and TV, thus also promoting knowledge transfer.

Our electricity enables many women to save significant amounts of time in their daily lives and better invest that time in their own education, family or business. Especially in the commercial context (SDG 8) and through education (SDG 4), we empower women to become more independent and live more self-determined lives through their self-reliance. To empower women, we implement women empowerment programs together with the Africa GreenTec Foundation e.V. and experienced external partners.

Water is a critical issue in the Global South - especially on the Saharan border, where we operate many ImpactSites. Electricity enables the operation of water treatment plants, such as our FilterUP^®. Increasing the quality of drinking water has numerous positive effects, especially for health. In addition, electricity enables the operation of water pumps, such as our PumpUPs^®, in agriculture. With increasing water shortages and slow seasonal shifts, this technology is essential for farmers.

Our product portfolio is based on stable access to electricity, which we produce reliably and on a CO₂-neutral basis with our Solartainer^®. In addition, we supply every household with energy-efficient LEDs for lighting and offer information events on the efficient use of electricity. Providing people with electricity is at the core of our vision and daily work. The effects of electricity contribute directly and indirectly to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN by 2030.

Our Solartainer^®, comprehensive services and energy-efficient devices, such as our ImpactProducts enable access to high power and thus productive electricity use - unlike other approaches such as solar home and pico-solar systems. Small business owners can abruptly increase productivity, create jobs, and raise income levels. Community entrepreneurship is therefore of particular importance to us in promoting socio-economic development. It creates new perspectives and opportunities for commercial enterprises and secondary effects for the whole community.

Our renewable energy solutions are not just aimed at private individuals. Our focus is on the sustainable development of the local economy and the promotion of entrepreneurship. This creates new sources of income, jobs and development opportunities. By implementing C&I (Commercial & Industrial) projects, we also directly support larger companies in converting to an independent and renewable- energy-based power supply. Our innovative power, water, and cooling solutions enable successful entrepreneurship. The use of electrical appliances and access to the internet in turn generate ideas and innovation. Light and media also improve educational opportunities for children and young people. With our StreetUPs^® (solar-powered street lamps), we promote the infrastructure in communities and ensure safe routes, even at night.

Inequalities always arise where people do not have the opportunity to realize themselves and be economically independent. With our sustainable impact solutions, we create income opportunities for everyone. Our ImpactSites^® address the entire community and provide people with opportunities to make a difference locally. Craft businesses can create new jobs and train young people. Our solar bakeries provide over 100 jobs per site for women, giving them financial independence from their families. In our work, we are always at eye level. With our bottom-up approach, we always think about our projects locally and make decisions directly with the communities.

We believe that creating opportunities through basic infrastructure addresses the root causes of the greatest challenges in the Global South, rather than just addressing the symptoms. We experience electricity as an effective means of addressing the root causes of displacement and promoting inclusive societies and peaceful coexistence. We hear numerous stories from customers who have returned to their village because of electricity and a new perspective for the future, or who have not left it despite advanced planning. A stable income to feed the family can ease tensions between ethnic groups and in some cases even prevent people from joining terrorist groups. Ultimately, we work for self-determination, justice and peace.

Impact and positive change cannot be achieved single-handedly. This is all the more true if it is to be sustainable. As a social enterprise, we therefore rely on intensive partnerships and collaboration. We cooperate with governments, NGOs, companies and, of course, above all with local people. It is important to bring together customers, implementers, technology suppliers and investors and find the best solutions for everyone. This is the only way we can achieve our goals and the goals of our partners and customers in the long term.
