Dalakana – Our First ImpactSite® in Mali

The Dalakana community was the start of Africa GreenTec's work in Mali. The Amali Solartainer® installed there was our first ImpactSite in Mali and our second ImpactSite ever. The implementation was supported by the great commitment of the village elder in Dalakana. Unfortunately, he passed away before the ImpactSite was completed. His successor was just as enthusiastic about our project and was also strongly committed to the electrification of Dalakana. In November 2019, the ImpactSite was ceremonially launched.

The Chilli Village

Dalakana is located in the Mandé region of Mali. It is somewhat remote as it does not have a major main road or trade route. Nevertheless, Dalakana is known throughout Mali for the chillies that are grown here and are very popular throughout the country. The chillies, as well as the products made from them, are sold and processed mainly in the capital Bamako, both on the market and in restaurants. Besides chillies, the village exports tomatoes, potatoes and lettuce. The community thus lives almost exclusively from agriculture.
